Brinkmann and Steyn reach podium at Troutbeck

Maja Brinkmann and Fourie Steyn both managed to scoop up a bronze medal in their respective categories at the Africa Junior Triathlon Cup event held at Troutbeck in Zimbabwe last Saturday.

Their Namibian compatriot Ethan Brinkmann, competing in his first official world series triathlon race, achieved a fourth place after a strong run over 5 kilometres to the finish.

Anika Visser and Kadence Ribbink (both from South Africa) clinched first and second place in the girls race, in 1 hour 14 minutes 57 seconds and 1:17:59 respectively. Brinkmann took the third spot with 1:22:11 on the stopwatch.

Nicholas Horne (1:07:47) and Nathan Foster (1:11:54) from South Africa were ahead of Steyn who raced home for bronze in 1:12:59, while his countryman Ethan Brinkmann (1:14:14) clocked in shortly after Steyn.
