PPP juniors take centre stage at ITF U18 World Tour
Five of Namibia’s top junior players are currently representing the country at the ITF U18 Junior World Tennis Tour at the Central Tennis Courts in Olympia, Windhoek.
The home contingent comprises Israel Dowie, Ruben Yssel, Johan Theron, Joanivia Bezuidenhout and Mari van Schalkwyk, who also form part of the Namibia Podium Performance Programme (PPP) in preparation for the Los Angeles 2028 Summer Olympic Games.
The team received support ahead of competition yesterday from Namibia Sports Commission chief administrator Freddy Mwiya, Namibia Tennis Association vice president Vekondja Kuzee and Namibia National Olympic Committee spokesperson Elmau Boois.
Other players in the PPP not competing in the J30 and J60 tournaments, which began yesterday and will run until next Saturday, are the Van Schalkwyk brothers, Codie and Connor, who are playing college tennis in the United States, and Codie Dippenaar, who is based in South Africa.
