NASFED juniors impress at Level 2 tour in South Africa
Namibia’s junior swimmers produced an encouraging display at a South African Level 2 competition in Germiston, Gauteng, competing across a variety of disciplines against strong regional opposition.
The team returned with an impressive total of 24 medals, consisting of nine gold, seven silver and eight bronze, reflecting a consistent and competitive showing throughout the meet. The medal tally highlighted the depth within the squad, with athletes contributing across different events and categories.
In the overall standings, Namibia secured fifth place, with combined results from both the women’s and men’s teams contributing to the final ranking. The finish underlined the team’s ability to compete at a high level while continuing to build experience against some of the region’s top junior swimmers.
Several athletes recorded personal best times during the competition, demonstrating progress in training and the ability to perform under pressure. The performances also pointed to steady development within the junior ranks, with swimmers gaining valuable exposure to a higher level of competition.
The touring group included coaches and support staff, who played an important role in guiding the athletes throughout the event, ensuring preparation, race management and overall team coordination.
The competition provided an important platform for Namibia’s young swimmers to test themselves, gain experience and continue their development, with the results reflecting a positive step forward for the country’s junior aquatic programme.
