Five Namibian swimmers have been selected to represent the country at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, with the Namibia Aquatic Sports Federation (NASFED) hailing the achievement as a reward for years of dedication and hard work.

The Namibia National Olympic Committee and Commonwealth Games Association (NNOC & CGA) confirmed the selection of Jessica Humphrey, José Canjulo, Luke Beukes, Oliver Durand and Ronan Wantenaar as part of Team Namibia for the Games.

NASFED said the swimmers' inclusion reflects their commitment to excellence and the support they have received from their coaches, clubs and families throughout their development.

The team will be led by head coach John Leitner, who will oversee the swimmers' preparations and campaign in Glasgow.

As part of their final build-up to the Games, the squad will attend a one-week high-performance training camp under renowned South African coach Dean Price. A former Springbok swimmer and long-serving High Performance Manager and Head Coach at Swimming South Africa, Price has worked with several Olympic and Paralympic athletes, including Natalie du Toit and Ryk Neethling.

The training camp is expected to provide the Namibian swimmers with valuable technical guidance, race preparation and exposure to international standards ahead of the competition.

NASFED also thanked the NNOC & CGA for its continued support throughout the selection and preparation process, acknowledging the organisation's role in coordinating logistics and providing financial assistance for Team Namibia.

The federation said competing at the Commonwealth Games is both an honour and a responsibility, offering the athletes an opportunity to test themselves against some of the world's top swimmers while showcasing the growing strength of Namibian swimming on the international stage.

NASFED wished the five swimmers, together with their families, coaches and support teams, every success as they continue their preparations for Glasgow 2026.
