World titles on the line for RCFA fighters
A total of 35 fighters from Namibia will depart from Windhoek today on their way to the Ring Contact Fighting Arts open world championship, which gets underway tomorrow at Emerald Casino in Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng, South Africa.
The RCFA world event will feature Namibia’s national team, development team and an invitational team.
The Namibians have previously excelled in the martial arts sports which tests participants’ abilities in a variety of fighting disciplines.
At the Jungle War XIII late last year at the same Emerald Casino, the Namibian dominated the competition against South Africa’s provincial teams, as well as Zambia and Zimbabwe, by winning 209 medals (98 gold, 72 silver and 39 bronze). Namibia also produced six out of the top ten fighters at the event.
Friday will be dedicated to the weigh-in, medical check-ups and a ceremony of face-off introductions from the main card.
The competition is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
