Oryx Esports Namibia crowns its champions

Oryx Esports Namibia recently crowned its champions at its free-to-play Tekken 8 and EA Sports FC 25 tournament, held at the Direct Information Computer Technologies (DICT) Office in Windhoek.The tournament attracted 32 gaming prodigies who put their strategic skills to the test for cash prizes and goodies sponsored by Oryx Esports Namibia and DICT.
EA Sports FC 25 saw nine players battle it out in a show of football gaming prowess, with four top players walking away with prizes, including a fourth-place prize sponsored by DICT.
The winners were as follows: 1 Shakes Nguvauva, 2 Nyasha Musiyarira, 3 Alpha, 4 Arthur Kolofu.
Tekken 8 had the highest participation, with 23 players competing in intense matches. Here, the top six players were also awarded, with additional prize money donated by a member of the Tekken community.
Winners: 1 Marshant van Rooi, 2 Taloshili Nghiwewelekwa, 3 Freddy Mazila, 4 Zunneal van Wyk, 5 Owen Chiwalo, 6 Owami Mubita.
The sponsored goodies were given out through random draws. In the Tekken lucky draw, Peter Small won an Oryx Esports Namibia shirt, while Mbahahiza Katjinamunene claimed another in the FC 25 draw.
In the spectator draw, Andrea Thatcher won an Oryx Esports Namibia shirt, with the “Hype of the Tournament” award from DICT going to Freddy Mazila.
Vetuu was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) for his good spirit and engagement, while Risto Sakeus won the Best FC 25 Prediction award.
The organisers said the partnership between IT company DICT and Windhoek’s trailblazing esports club, Oryx Esports Namibia, aims to bring esports closer to the people and nurture a thriving local gaming community.
