The third round will also feature the league's official launch, which could not be held in the first round in March.
Namibia Volleyball Federation (NVF) will host its annual congress today at the MSC Hotel in Otjiwarongo, ahead of the official launch of the MTC Volleyball National League (VNL) tomorrow at Otjiwarongo’s C’est si Bon Court. The congress aims to strengthen governance and discuss ways to improve volleyball activities in the country.
NVF president Tobias Eden Mwatelulo said the congress is in keeping with their tradition and the federation’s vision of volleyball as a sport that wins by “serving success, one point at a time.”
Mwatelulo said the meeting will focus on sound leadership, strengthening governance and primarily explore how volleyball can thrive in all aspects and become a fully recognised national sport code.
“We will be talking about constitutions, declarations and competition structures. We will have a special focus on the youth as the foundation for grassroots development. Our aim is for national team growth and ultimately Olympic participation,” he remarked.
Despite the VNL’s first round having taken place at the Windhoek Showgrounds in March, the official launch was postponed to avoid clashing with the MTC Maris Cup final, which was scheduled for the same weekend.
Tomorrow’s official launch will coincide with the third round, which will be played over two days and promises an exciting schedule of matches.
The third round will feature 12 women’s and 10 men’s matches, with four games played concurrently every two hours.
