Nande on course for a perfect season

The pre-tournament favourite Likius Nande played rounds of 69 and 72 on Saturday and Sunday, on his way to winning the Omeya Open golf championship.The national number one Nande, who also recently won the Ongos Valley Windhoek Open at the Country Club course, finished on 141 shots to beat his nearest competitor Francois Hanekom by two.
Afterwards Nande said: “The tournament was good, we had a great competition throughout the whole weekend, so it was a close game with the legend Francois Hanekom (former pro golfer).
“But I’m happy with my form – maintaining a 100 percent winning season with six wins out of six nationals events, with three more coming up
“We’ve got the Gold Cup and the Oranjemund Open coming up later in the month, before closing the year at the Rössmund Open on 6-7 December.”
A total of 68 players competed in the A, B and C divisions over two days, testing their skill and judgement on the golf course.
In the junior competition, JP le Grange showed promise, winning the overall best net prize by four shots over Paul Verburg Junior (139 against 143).
Organisers expressed their thanks to the sponsors Auas Fencing & Flooring CC, CRVW Chartered Accountants & Auditors as well as Oupa Len’s Trading (Total B1 City).
