Namibia Volleyball Federation’s (NVF) MTC Volleyball National League (VNL) returns this Saturday in Katima Mulilo.

The second round promises an action-packed day with five matches scheduled across the men’s and women’s divisions at the University of Namibia’s (Unam) Multipurpose Hall.

Unam Hard Hitters will open the day’s action with a 09:00 men’s match against Mighty Gunners.

Speaking to this publication, Hard Hitters head coach Kamwi Sezuni said the team is looking forward to playing at home in the second round.

“Facing strong teams like Mighty Gunners and [Namibian Defence Force] NDF Raptors is always a challenge, but we’ve prepared well, both mentally and physically. The team has been putting in the work, and we’re confident in our systems and synergy on the court,” he said.

Sezuni noted that the team had earlier faced a setback with the registration of one of its liberos due to clearance issues that should have been resolved sooner.

“It’s disappointing, but we’ve adjusted accordingly and trust the depth of our squad to step up. The focus remains on executing our game plan and making the most of our home advantage. The team is ready!” he said.

The men’s fixtures continue with a clash between defending champions Namibian Correctional Service and Calvary Eagles at 11:00, followed by newly promoted Mighty Gunners taking on the NDF Raptors at 13:00.

In the women’s division, local team Ball Busters will face Nampol Otjozondjupa at 15:00.

Speaking about her team’s readiness to host Nampol Otjozondjupa, Ball Busters chairperson Amanda Samwaka said the team has been training consistently and is eager to perform.

“Most of the players are showing up, so we’re ready. We’re very excited for Saturday. We’ve prepared for this!” she said.

“It’s just unfortunate that we only have one game in our hometown. We really wish we had more, and we hope the organisers will consider giving us additional fixtures in the future.”

The final match of the day sees Unam Hard Hitters return to the court to take on NDF Raptors at 17:00.
