The Lagoon Dream Run brought together more than 300 participants on Saturday morning in Walvis Bay, marking the first Team Flippy-hosted event in the harbour town. The run featured distances of 2km, 5km, 10km and 21km, with runners setting off in dry and breezy easterly wind conditions along the scenic lagoon route.
“This is our second event in the series, and our first one in Walvis Bay,” said Daniel Seidler of Team Flippy. “We had around 140 to 160 people at last month’s leg in Swakopmund, and this time we’ve doubled that. The community is really showing up and supporting what we’re doing.”
The event, supported by Deopharma and Radio Electronics, forms part of a growing local running series aimed at encouraging fitness and community participation.
“It’s more of a fun event,” Seidler explained. “There are prizes, medals, trophies – even schools and companies can compete for points.”
Seidler said hosting events in various locations is part of the plan to keep things fresh.
“In life, we all face different challenges. With each new venue, people adapt – and that’s part of the journey. The lagoon is probably the best venue we’ve had so far.”
