Namibia Volleyball Federation (NVF) has confirmed that the Bank Windhoek NVF Cup will take place from 11 to 12 October at Ramatex Hall in Windhoek. The tournament, a major highlight on the NVF calendar, also serves as a qualifier for the prestigious MTC Volleyball National League (VNL).
In a statement issued yesterday, NVF chief executive officer Festus Hamukwaya said this year’s event will be hosted by the Central Volleyball Association (CVA) and marks the 17th edition of the Cup.
“The tournament brings together champions and runners-up from the eight regional leagues in both the men’s and women’s categories. This year, a total prize pool of N$100 000 is proudly sponsored by Bank Windhoek,” the statement read.
Last year, Afrocat C and Namibia Defence Force (NDF) Phoenixes claimed the men’s and women’s titles, respectively, and were promoted to the VNL alongside runners-up University of Namibia (Unam) Queens and Mighty Gunners.
Hamukwaya said all regional associations have confirmed their teams’ participation in this year’s competition.
“This year’s edition is going to be extra special. All teams are expected to be there. Registration for the tournament is free,” he said.
