Bank Windhoek’s annual Golf Day delivered a winning combination of sport and social impact, raising N$100,000 in support of the Bank Windhoek Cancer Apple Project. The 18-hole tournament, staged at the Windhoek Country Club Resort, attracted around 100 golfers and fostered both spirited competition and a strong sense of community.

Golf Gurus stole the spotlight as the day’s champions. The quartet of Wendyll Boois, Meliki Shoozi, Chris Claassen and James Jacobs posted a commanding 122 points to secure first place. Kanaal 7 claimed the runner-up position with 107 points, thanks to the steady play of Phillip Steenberg, Jan Smit, Armand de Klerk and Johan Coetser. Ricoh Namibia rounded off the top three on 103 points, fielding Werner Lassen, Stefanus van der Merwe, Francois van Schouwenberg and Tertius Stears.

Competition for the next positions was fierce, with Tegnika Trading CC, NamibRe and Vision Africa Research Services all tied on 102 points to share fourth place. The remaining teams were ranked from seventh to twenty-fourth, with scores ranging between 99 and 78.

Reflecting on the day, Bank Windhoek’s Executive Officer of Marketing and Corporate Communication Services, Jacquiline Pack, praised the event’s blend of camaraderie and sporting spirit. “This year’s event showcased the teamwork and sportsmanship that define Namibia’s golfing community. We congratulate everyone who participated and contributed to its success,” she said.

In addition to raising funds on the fairways, Bank Windhoek highlighted new opportunities to support the Cancer Apple Project. The official campaign launch has been shifted to February 2026, coinciding with the peak apple harvest season to ensure the best quality at reduced costs. Until then, members of the public can continue to give through the bank’s e-apple platform on its website. A new voluntary donation feature on the Bank Windhoek Mobile App now allows customers to contribute from as little as N$5 per transaction, with all proceeds going to the Cancer Association of Namibia.

Since its inception in 2000, the Bank Windhoek Cancer Apple Project has raised more than N$38.4 million, playing a vital role in supporting the fight against cancer in Namibia.
