Van Wyk comes out tops in monthly medal

Over the past weekend the Windhoek Golf Club proudly hosted the first of eight competitions in its ABInBev Monthly Medal series.

The medal series will be used to determine the club’s champions of the year in the medal format. The top competitors qualify for the Tournament of Champions at the end of the year where the best 24 players are split into two groups of twelve and compete over 54 holes.

Fifty-five players participated, which is an average turnout. The weather conditions were warm and sunny with some showers in the afternoon.

WGC extends a very warm thanks to the sponsor ABInBev for their support and making this series event possible.

Overall winner: Jan van Wyk (gross 74, nett 66).

A Division

1 Bertus Damon (gross 80, nett 69).

2 Paulus Shifonono (gross 75, nett 70).

3 Danie van Schoor (gross 83, nett 71).

 

B Division

1 John Chadyiwa (gross 84, nett 68).

2 Paul Grobler (gross 85, nett 69).

3 Allan Ogonje (gross 89, nett 699).

 

C Division

1 Harold Kisting (gross 89, nett 69).

2 Tiaan Snyman (gross 105, nett 70).

3 Tommy Nangombe (gross 99, nett 72).

 

Women’s division

1 Celonika Robinson (gross 91, nett 72).

2 Suene Venter (gross 91, nett 72).

3 Natasja Louw (gross 102, nett 74).

• This coming Saturday and Sunday the club will host the Federation Pairs competition, sponsored by Safety Kit. Players in every division will compete over 54 holes, in the medal / strokeplay format. Entries close on Wednesday at 18:00.
