One point separates Independence Cup winners

The Windhoek Golf Club hosted the annual Bank Windhoek sponsored Independence betterball competition last Saturday.

Yet another beautiful tournament has come and gone, as the Bank Windhoek Independence Cup proved to be a resounding success. The event was exceptionally well supported, with golfers rising to the occasion and delivering phenomenal scores well under par.

What initially seemed like a routine Independence Cup quickly transformed into a memorable day, ending on a high note with an exciting and generous prize-giving ceremony.

The club captain Toady Gurirab with the valued support of Bank Windhoek, ensured that the golfers were truly spoiled.

The excitement continued with the much-anticipated lucky draws always a highlight for members of the Windhoek Golf Club. Adding to the vibrant atmosphere, Corner Butcher once again played, they’re in spoiling members, contributing to the electrifying mood of the day.

The hype was undeniable, and the prize-giving was nothing short of electric, with nearly every golfer walking away with something in hand, celebrating not just their performance, but the spirit of independence and sportsmanship that defines the game. A truly fitting way to celebrate independence on the course.

The competition attracted 58 players, 29 teams.

The top results for the Bank Windhoek Independence Betterball were:

1 Cor Beuke and Liana du Plessis (52 points).

2 Evelyn Paulino and Sesilia Nkosi (51).

3 Celonika Robinson and Chantel Visser (50).

4 Sponks Mohale and Lucy Mohale (47, count-out).

5 Bertus Damon and Llewellyn Husselmann (47).

Four nearest-to-the-pin prizes were also up for grabs, won by Dewaal Theunissen (hole 3), Toady Gurirab (hole 9), Marc Schafer (hole 13) and Liana du Plessis (hole 17).
