Unam Bokkies assistant impressed
Unam Bokkies assistant coach Bores Uirab says there is room for the team to grow into a formidable side in the FNB Women’s Super League.
The university side has delivered good results since the season started in January and the coach remains optimistic they can maintain the rhythm of consistency in the premier league.
“We as a team are not where we want to be yet, but there has been impressive performances this season.
“We have a team of young players who are willing to learn and that is something important to have in your team.
“I am confident that there is still room for the Bokkies to continue improving as the season progresses into a crucial stage where getting maximum points in a weekend will be the ultimate goal,” Uirab said.
The team is currently topping the women’s league following an impressive run of form since the league started in January.
The university team has collected 17 points out of the seven league matches they have played so far.
The Bokkies have won five out of seven, while dropping two points on two occasions and remaining the only unbeaten side, signaling their intentions to win the league.
The team has already scored 15 goals, while conceding only eight.
The assistant coach is however aware that there are still many matches to be played during the season.
“It is important not to get carried away by our recent results, because the teams behind us are strong and can put pressure on us.
“We are taking it game by game and we'll see how far we will end up this season,” Uirab told Sport Wrap.
Trailing Unam FC are Mighty Gunners Ladies FC who currently have 16 points, while FC Ongos are in third with 14 points, followed by African Stars Queens, also on 14 points.
