This coming weekend, Kobus Reyneke heads into the final round of the 2026 Toyota Gazoo Racing GR86 Cup this weekend with a three-point championship lead, as two races on Saturday will decide the title.

Reyneke leads Connor Weston 52 points to 49 ahead of the season finale at Zwartkops Raceway, where the pair will battle for the championship in the final two races.

The circuit holds mixed memories for the Namibian teenager. Earlier this year, Reyneke was fastest in qualifying and won Race 1, only for a puncture to derail his challenge in Race 2 while he was leading. Although he finished the race, the result handed Weston the championship lead.

Reyneke has since been working to recover those lost points, making gains in Gqeberha. He was also fastest in Cape Town, although the races there did not take place, leaving the title fight to be settled at Zwartkops.

Friday’s programme features practice, with qualifying and both races scheduled for Saturday in the final round of the season.

With only three points separating the two contenders, the championship remains wide open. Reyneke knows that clean, consistent racing will be crucial as he looks to convert his advantage into the title.

One of his strengths is his composure behind the wheel. Having gained extensive experience with race starts during his karting career and through repeated practice on the simulator, he is confident in his preparation and ability to perform under pressure.

“I know the track. I feel calm. Three points is not much, but I’ve done the work. I just need to race clean,” Reyneke said.

The decisive races will be broadcast live at extreme.co.za/live, with Race 1 scheduled for 12:30 and Race 2 at 15:55 on Saturday.

For Reyneke, the task is clear, deliver two strong performances and turn his three-point advantage into the 2026 championship.
