Okahandja United FC on Tuesday submitted an urgent request for a stay of the directive issued by the Namibia Premier Football League, ordering a replay of a league match between the club and Young African FC.

This is after the NFA wrote to the clubs on 4 March requesting the teams to replay a match that was abandoned following a brawl involving the two teams at Okahandja on 23 November.

The replay has been scheduled for 28 March after the match was abandoned in the 53rd minute.

The NFA directive relied on Rule 13.12 of the NFA Rules and Regulations

The club has however feels that there was loopholes in the decision made by the football governing body, citing unstable football conditions.

“Information presently available to the club indicates that the abandonment of the match may have resulted from an incident a person associated with Young African FC entering the field of play and becoming involved in a physical altercation.

“If confirmed, such conduct would constitute misconduct capable of causing the abandonment of the match in terms of the NFA disciplinary framework,” the club wrote in a letter addressed to the NFA.

The football club further denounce the term used in the findings of the football association, requesting for further investigations.

“The complaints requests that the matter be investigated by the appropriate disciplinary authorities of the association.

“The determination of whether misconduct caused the abandonment of the match is a matter that properly falls within the jurisdiction of the disciplinary structures of the NFA.”

The football club states that proceeding with the replay of the match, while a disciplinary complaint concerning the abandonment of the match may prejudice the rights of the parties and undermine the integrity of the disciplinary process.

The football club is adamant that a temporary suspension of the replay directive allows the disciplinary bodies to determine the factual and regulatory issues arising from the incident.

“Okahandja United therefore respectfully requests that the Namibia Football Association suspend the execution of the replay directive dated 4 March 2026.

“Specifically, the club request that the fixtures scheduled for 28 March 2026 be removed from the match program pending the determination of the disciplinary complaint logged by the club.”

The club added that it remains fully committed to cooperating to cooperating fully with the association in ensuring that the circumstances surrounding the abandonment of the match are properly examined.

The Namibia Football Association acknowledge the recipient of the letter but were unable to comment on the matter till further notice.
