It has been officially confirmed that Brave Warriors international and talented attacking midfielder Alpheus Leevi is still in the books of Blue Waters, despite rumors that he had initially signed a deal with Botswana Premier League outfit Jwaneng Galaxy.
Talented Namibian midfielder Alpheus Leevi’s hopes of joining the Botswana Premier League have been dashed after Jwaneng Galaxy were unable to secure his signature. The 24-year-old, who recently trialled with the Botswana outfit, was initially reported to have signed a deal. However, those reports have since proven false, with Leevi now back at his club, Blue Waters FC, for the 2025/26 season.
A source confirmed that the midfielder had returned to Walvis Bay following the unsuccessful stint.
“I believe it is safe to say that Leevi was unable to sign a deal with Jwaneng Galaxy after completing his trials there. Reports surfaced that he had signed, but that was not true. Anyone at Blue Waters can confirm what really happened,” the source said.
Blue Waters chairman Mathias Haufiku echoed those sentiments, stressing that the social media reports were misleading.
“All I can say is that the reports suggesting Leevi had signed with Jwaneng were unconfirmed and false. He is still our player because he was not successful during his trials in Botswana,” Haufiku told Sport Wrap.
Leevi joined Blue Waters from Eshoke Chula Chula about nine months ago after protracted negotiations. His standout performances for Chula Chula in the 2023/24 season drew interest from both local and foreign clubs, while also earning him a call-up to the Brave Warriors.
He has already made a couple of appearances for the national side and is currently part of the squad preparing for upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers in Botswana.
