Khomas Nampol FC are relishing the opportunity to battle two of Rundu’s Premier League sides, Rundu Chiefs and Julinho Sporting, this coming weekend. The police team will first face Rundu Chiefs on Saturday at the Independence Stadium at 16:00 before taking on Julinho Athletic on Sunday at 13:00.
Fortune Eichab’s men are coming off the back of a defeat after losing to defending champions African Stars last weekend. However, the coach remains confident that his team will be ready and eager to collect maximum points this weekend.
“We know that these two teams pose a different challenge compared to the one we faced last weekend.
“I have done a few assessments, and the team will be ready for the matches.
“It is our wish to collect maximum points this weekend because we need to get points on the board,” said Eichab.
Rundu Chiefs make their return to the Premier League this season after gaining promotion from the First Division. It will be the club’s first match of the campaign, and they will be eager to get their season off to a strong start.
“I know Rundu Chiefs are coming from the First Division, but there is no way we are going to underestimate them.
They are still a strong side that can pose a threat on the break, and we have to be wary of that as a team,” noted Eichab.
Khomas Nampol finished third in the Premier League last season, collecting 51 points. The police outfit won 14 of their matches, lost seven and drew nine times.
Their Sunday opponents, Julinho Sporting, finished the previous campaign in 13th place, narrowly avoiding relegation. The team from the north-eastern part of the country managed only six wins in 30 matches while drawing 14.
“Julinho might have come close to relegation, but they have probably regrouped and can be a threat.
“For this reason, we will not take any of the matches lightly, as we need to register wins this weekend,” he added.
