Julinho rocked by coach resignation
Club football
Julinho Athletics are fearing that coach Korea Roseman could lure away some of their key players after he resigned.
Julinho Athletic Football Club has expressed concern after the head coach of their development women’s team resigned on Sunday.Sport Wrap understands that the resignation of Korea Roseman, effective Sunday 7 September, may have caused some confusion among the club’s hierarchy.
The football club alleges that Roseman’s departure might force some of the players to leave the club.
“Julinho Athletic Football Club hereby confirms receipt of the resignation letter submitted Korea Roseman, Head Coach of the Julinho Development Women’s Team, effective 7 September 2025,” club spokesperson Poulus Haingura said.
“While we acknowledge Roseman’s decision to step down, we also note with concern the short notice and the circumstances surrounding this resignation.
“The manner and timing of this departure places the club and its players in a difficult position and does not reflect the spirit of responsibility and continuity expected at Julinho Athletic.”
The club expressed concerns over remarks suggesting that some of their players will leave with Roseman.
“Furthermore, remarks suggesting the possible withdrawal of players alongside this resignation are viewed as regrettable and inconsistent with the duty of care owed by a coach to his players.
“At Julinho Athletic, players’ development and welfare are considered paramount.”
The club warns that any attempt to use the players as leverage is unacceptable and contrary to the values of the game and the principles of their football club.
“The club will take all necessary steps to ensure stability, protect its players, and safeguard the continuity of its women’s program.”
New arrangements
The football club revealed that arrangements have been made for coaches in their ranks to oversee the immediate transition, with full cooperation expected from Roseman in the handover of responsibilities and club property.
“Julinho Athletic would like to thank Roseman for his past contributions and wishes him well in his future endeavours.
“However, this resignation is regarded as final, and the club remains firmly committed to moving forward in the best interests of its players, supporters, and the wider football community.”
Sticking to the decision
In his response, Roseman said he was frustrated with the way the football club was treating the women’s development team, as well as some accusations made against him.
Roseman, who started at Julinho three years ago, was tasked with steering their women’s game towards the top level.
However, he feels his efforts were not recognised and that is why he decided to part ways with the club.
“This football club was caring more about the boys than the girls, because we were even just playing with one kit while the boys get the kits.
“It was due to a development reason that I feel the players were stuck and they did not feel important.
“The last straw that really forced me out is that I corrected our communications person and their response was that I am tarnishing the name of the club,” Roseman fumed.
It was not the first time that Roseman had wanted to resign, but he said he stuck to his decision this time.
He revealed that he had not been working under a substantive contract, even after he had asked the club’s hierarchy to provide him at least with something.
“Sometimes I would use my own money to provide transport for these girls and when I recently asked about that, I was told to surrender the club’s jacket first.”
