Gobabis SC on the move
Gobabis Soccer Club is aiming for promotion to the country’s first division following an impressive run in the second division.
The team currently sits at the top of the table, having accumulated 18 points in a competitive league featuring several strong clubs.
Led by captain and former Civics FC player Jarurako Seun Uahupirapi, the side has embarked on a determined journey to make history.
Having earned promotion from the third division, Gobabis SC entered the league as underdogs but have since defied expectations, securing important victories against more established teams.
“We have a vision to go all the way into top flight, but we first have to get through the first division.
“As underdogs, we respect all the teams, but we are not afraid and we are coming for all of them,” said skipper Uahupirapi.
The squad also boasts experienced players, including former Young African player Ngaitone Kandje and former Nampol player Tjipee Ruhumba.
Gobabis SC further benefited from the contribution of Otjozondjupa player Murangi, who scored twice yesterday against a strong Omaheke Soccer Club (formerly known as Omaheke Nampol).
“As a team of players that have been in the Premier League before, we know what it takes to get there and have our eyes on the prize.
We also know that it is not going to be easy, but we maintain our confidence and belief that anything is possible,” Uahupirapi told Sport Wrap.
The team is coached by Karee Hangari and assisted by Tjeripo Uandara, with Mbuande serving as team manager.
The club also extended its appreciation to its loyal supporters.
“A big thanks goes to guys like Big Jon, Ronny Tjipueja, Kahee, Tangee Jamuine, Tjombe, Toromba Tupangee, Deikera Molenjane, Mr Kahiha and Big Man Kajovi.”
