Cohen FC and SKW3 win tourney

The African Marketing Fistball National Cup produced emphatic results over the weekend, with several teams delivering impressive performances.

Cohen FC 1 successfully defended their title in an exciting final, while Sport Klub Windhoek (SKW) 3 secured their fifth title of the season in their respective category.

The tournament began with a preliminary round-robin stage, with matches decided over two winning sets. Cohen FC 1 qualified directly for the final after winning all four of their matches in the Category A round-robin phase.

Hosts Swakopmund FC 1 finished second in the group and had to face third-placed SKW 2 in the semi-final. The home side triumphed 2-0 in what was described as a dominant performance.

Meanwhile, SKW 1 finished fourth, while the second team of Cohen FC could only manage fifth place after enduring four defeats.

The final, played under the floodlights, saw Cohen FC 1 and Swakopmund FC 1 deliver high-quality fistball in front of an energetic crowd. It was a thrilling contest as both sides featured players of the highest calibre.

Cohen FC 1 took an early 2-0 lead in sets, displaying dominance against their rivals. In the third set, they held three set and match points, but the experienced Swakopmund side fought back to win 13-11.

Spurred on by their home supporters, Swakopmund FC 1 pushed their opponents to the limit before Cohen FC 1 called a timeout at 6-1. However, the defending champions managed to hold firm and retain their crown.

The Ball-Balla Tournament will take place on 20 December.
