Bank Windhoek U21 Soccer Tournament returns with N$300,000 boost
The Bank Windhoek Ramblers Under-21 Soccer Tournament is set to return in June 2026 with an increased sponsorship of N$300,000, reaffirming its role as a key platform for developing young football talent in Namibia.
Now in its fifth edition, the tournament will be staged in both Windhoek and Keetmanshoop, continuing its mission to provide a structured environment where emerging players can sharpen their skills, gain valuable competitive experience, and catch the eye of scouts and professional clubs.
A total of 14 teams will compete this year, with six teams from Windhoek and eight from Keetmanshoop battling it out for top honours. Over the years, the competition has proven to be a stepping stone for several players who have gone on to represent the senior national team, the Brave Warriors.
Bank Windhoek’s Head of Strategic Partnerships and Corporate Social Responsibility, Bronwyn Moody, emphasised the importance of investing in youth development through sport.
“We believe in investing in the future of Namibian sport. The Under-21 Soccer Tournament is more than just a competition; it is a stepping stone for young athletes to realise their dreams and build meaningful careers in football,” she said.
Ramblers Soccer Academy Executive Committee representative Klaus van Niekerk praised the bank’s continued support, noting the tournament’s steady growth and its importance on the local football calendar. He also encouraged the public to attend, highlighting that entry to matches in both Windhoek and Keetmanshoop will be free.
The winning teams in each host town will receive N$10,000, while runners-up will earn N$7,500 and third-place finishers N$5,000.
Matches in Windhoek are scheduled for 17 to 20 June 2026, with the Keetmanshoop leg set for 26 to 28 June 2026. Beyond the action on the pitch, the tournament is also expected to promote community engagement and encourage healthy lifestyles among young people.
Further details about the event are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
