Nedbank champions cycling ahead of WPP Race
The highly anticipated second round of Nedbank Namibia’s Windhoek Pedal Power (WPP) Race Series will take place this weekend.
The series continues its tradition of showcasing the country’s top road and cycling talent, while promoting the growth of the sport nationwide. The event will be split into the WPP Individual Time Trial on Saturday and the WPP Road Race on Sunday.
More than 200 cyclists are expected to compete to accumulate points that will contribute to their overall leaderboard standings. At the end of the six-part series, the cyclists with the highest points will earn top honours and be crowned champions.
The WPP Race Series has long been a platform for both seasoned professionals and aspiring cyclists to test their endurance and skill.
The second race in the 2026 series promises an exhilarating route, competitive racing and an atmosphere of sportsmanship that underscores the event's growing popularity.
Creating opportunities
WPP Road Cycling Club’s Stefanus Feris, who is part of the organisers of the series, expressed appreciation for the bank’s unwavering support.
“Partnerships like the one we share with Nedbank Namibia are vital to the success and sustainability of cycling in our country.
“The bank’s commitment goes beyond sponsorship – it is about creating opportunities for athletes and enthusiasts to thrive. Together, we are building a strong foundation for the future of Namibian cycling,” he said.
Speaking ahead of the race, Nedbank Namibia’s chief commercial officer JG van Graan emphasised the bank’s dedication to supporting sports that unite communities and encourage active living.
“As we step into 2026, Nedbank Namibia reflects on an incredible year for cycling, highlighted by the success of the Nedbank Desert Dash last December. The Dash once again showcased the resilience and passion of riders from across the globe,” he explained.
‘Embrace cycling’
Van Graan noted that the bank will build on the Dash's momentum as it looks forward to supporting this year’s WPP Race Series, reinforcing its commitment to growing the sport and creating opportunities for Namibians to get involved.
“Cycling is not only about competition – it’s about lifestyle, health and sustainability. For those looking to start their cycling journey, Nedbank Namibia offers tailored financial solutions, including bicycle loans, to make owning a bike more accessible.
“We believe that by combining world-class events with practical support, we can inspire more Namibians to embrace cycling and enjoy its many benefits,” he remarked.
For the upcoming edition, spectators can look forward to an action-packed weekend, reinforcing the country’s reputation as a premier destination for cycling events in Southern Africa.
