CSA Women overcome Eagles in first two T20s

Cricket South Africa’s Emerging Women Academy team holds a 2-0 lead in their series against Namibia’s Capricorn Eagles women’s team, after winning Thursday afternoon’s match by six wickets.The tourists (122/4 in 16.1 overs) overtook Namibia’s total of 121 for seven (20 overs) with 23 balls to spare.
Namibia’s Kayleen Green was named player of the match, after a well-played fifty (50 off 43 balls) that contained three fours and three sixes. Yasmeen Khan (16 off 23) and Edelle van Zyl (17 off 24) held her company, before Mekelaye Mwatile (22 not out off 17 balls) hit one four and one six in the last few overs.
For South Africa, Kayla Reyneke (2/12 in 4 overs; 17 dot balls) and Caitlin Gail Wyngaard (2/21 in 4) excelled as bowlers. Opening batter Simoné Lourens (34 off 29, 4x4 1x6) helped ease the load on Eliz Marie Marx (18 off 19; 3x4), Gandhi Papama Jafta (21 not out off 20; 2x4) and Delmari Tucker (26 not out off 16; 3x4)
Match three and four in the T20 series will be played at 14:00 on Saturday and Sunday.
In match 1, South Africa (142/9) won by 33 runs after restricting Namibia to 109/8. The SA captain Leah Jones was named player of the match with four decisive wickets for 8 runs in three overs (15 dot balls).
