More than 30 Capricorn Group ChangeMakers joined forces with members of the Capricorn Eagles, Namibia's national women's cricket team, and corporate partners to improve facilities and donate essential items to Namibia Children's Home.

The outreach initiative, coordinated by Capricorn Group, brought together volunteers from NeoPaints, Central Knights Security and Imago Dei to support the home, which provides care for more than 120 orphans and vulnerable children.

Ahead of the visit, Capricorn Group employees collected and donated warm clothing, socks, beanies and blankets to help children during the winter season. Volunteers also focused on renovating the home's play park, an important recreational area used by the children.

The group spent the day cleaning, painting and carrying out general maintenance work aimed at creating a safer and more welcoming environment.

NeoPaints sponsored paint for the refurbishment project, while paint specialist Charlton Coetzee joined volunteers on site to assist with the work. Central Knights Security also committed to supporting future repairs to damaged playground equipment to improve the safety and usability of the area.

Imago Dei, which works with Capricorn Group to identify community needs and charitable projects, helped facilitate the initiative and connect volunteers with the children's home.

The Capricorn Eagles added a sporting element to the day, spending time with the children and promoting values such as teamwork, leadership and discipline. The national women's cricket team also donated two cricket kits to the home.

Chief Superintendent Emilia Nzuzi thanked the volunteers and sponsors for their contribution, saying the donations would provide much-needed warmth and comfort during winter while the improvements to the play park would benefit the children for years to come.

"The assistance with cleaning, painting and general improvements has transformed the area into a brighter, safer and more welcoming environment for the children," she said.

Capricorn Group Chief Brand and Corporate Affairs Officer Marlize Horn said the outreach reflected the company's commitment to community development through its ChangeMakers programme.

"Through the ChangeMakers programme, we give employees opportunities to serve communities in practical and meaningful ways. This initiative shows what can be achieved when organisations work together to support children and invest in Namibia's future," Horn said.

The project forms part of Capricorn Group's broader efforts to partner with community stakeholders and support initiatives that address social needs. Organisers said the collaboration demonstrated the positive impact that can be achieved when businesses, sports teams and community organisations work together to improve the lives of vulnerable children.
