The MTC Nestor Sunshine Tobias Boxing and Fitness Academy is ready to host the “Road to the World Title” bout, scheduled for 9 August at the Windhoek Country Club Resort and Casino.

Fillipus “Energy” Nghitumbwa will step into the ring with the undefeated Mxolisi Zuma from South Africa for the WBO Global Super Bantamweight Title.

Energy, who is highly tipped to become a world champion in the not-too-distant future, is said to have what it takes to make this dream a reality, perhaps in one of the toughest boxing divisions in the world right now, where Inoue is the unified super champion.

“The WBO has recognised Energy’s effort in his quest to become world champion and has therefore approved the WBO Global Title for this fight.

“This boxing bonanza is themed ‘Road to World Title’ as both boxers in the main event are world-class fighters, highly ranked by the World Boxing Organization with outstanding records,” said Nestor Tobias.

The two fighters will enter the ring with only one goal in mind, to win and improve their ranking, moving a step closer to a world title shot.

Energy has been on a fantastic four-fight winning streak since his controversial loss to former two-time world champion John Riel Casimero in the Philippines. He redeemed himself by defeating Thato Bonokoane of South Africa, followed by a victory over WBO top-15 rated boxer DeKang Wang from China in Namibia. He then travelled to Japan to knock out former world champion Yukinori Oguni in the first round, and went on to defeat Hassan Milanzi in his last home fight.

He boasts an impressive record of 16 fights, with 14 wins and 2 losses, and is currently ranked in the top 15 by both the WBO and WBC.

His opponent, Mxolisi Zuma, presents a very real threat, he comes into this fight with 10 wins, all by knockout, giving him a 100% KO record.

“It remains to be seen whether the knockout specialist from KwaZulu-Natal will be able to maintain his undefeated record when he meets one of the most feared fighters in the Super Bantamweight division.

“Given the main event match-up, we can expect nothing but fireworks, undoubtedly a world-class fight that will capture global attention.

“The MTC Nestor Sunshine Boxing Academy has a proud history of hosting world-class events and has produced three world champions: Paulus ‘The Hitman’ Moses, Paulus ‘The Rock’ Ambunda, and Julius ‘Blue Machine’ Indongo,” Tobias said.

This is a testament to the platform the academy provides for youth empowerment, enabling young athletes to elevate themselves from point A to point Z, where point Z represents a better future and the dream of becoming a world champion.

“There is no doubt that transforming someone from the streets into a world champion is no walk in the park, as it requires a significant investment from the promoter and all stakeholders involved.

“We would like to thank our sponsors, MTC and PstBet, for the incredible support they have given us over the years.

“Boxing is an expensive sport, especially when putting together such high-profile fights and without consistent, committed sponsors, it would not be possible.

“We also appreciate the support the Namibian government has given us, especially for world title events.

“When Energy wins this fight, he will position himself strongly for a world title shot, and we therefore call on the entire boxing fraternity to come out in their numbers and support him,” Tobias added.

VIP tables (seating 10) will be sold for N$20,000, while standard tickets will be available for just N$200.
