Nangolo challenges Kakololo for a showdown

At the launch of yesterday’s Rising Stars boxing tournament organised by AC Boxing Academy, promoter Immanuel ‘AC’ Moses said his stable has extended a challenge to Natanael ‘Natty’ Kakololo to face Flaime ‘Special One’ Nangolo on 14 October at the NamPower Convention Centre in Windhoek.

Moses said Salute Boxing’s Kakololo has been making excuses to avoid his boxer.

"He has been saying that Nangolo is a small boy and should not play with a knife. Fair enough; if he is a small boy, come out and beat the small boy so that he shuts up and respects elders."

He underlined: "The fact is, when it comes to rankings, Nangolo is rated number one in their weight category, whereas Kakololo is second.

"Kakololo has the experience because he came before my boxer, but for Nangolo to be great, he has to fight the likes of Kakololo.

"Yes, some might say there is no point in pitting two local boxers in the same category against each other, but it improves the boxers ranking and creates more opportunities internationally."

‘Scared to lose’

Moses explained there are two ways in which Kakololo can reject this fight. "Either he is scared to lose and might over-price himself, whereas he will be asking for more money, or he can come up with other issues. This fight is important, and I hope corporates can come and support it, as it will be a great event.”

Moses added: "However, if he doesn’t come through, we will still get him another boxer, but Kakololo is the first option.”

He concluded: “Nangolo has the record, Kakololo has experience.”

Nangolo did not mince words and called out Kakololo.

"This is just another fight for me. If he takes the fight, we will walk him out. He has been making many comments, saying that I’m a young boy. Okay, just put pen to paper and sign. We don’t need to talk much. The winner takes everything."

Support boxing in Namibia

Moses said it’s high time they also got a slice of the cake in terms of sponsorship. He referred to MTC, which is aiding the likes of Kilimandjaro Boxing Club, Sunshine Boxing Academy, and Salute Academy but not his stable.

"The stables get money, but how many boxing events have you seen this year? Perhaps only three. Boxing is suffering in this country, and the fans are starving. However, we continue to host events without any corporate sponsors. We also want help," added Moses.
